On November 9, at the Synodal Military Department of the UOC at the Kyiv Cave Monastery, head of the Department Archbishop Augustine of Lviv and Galicia met with Chief of General Staff - Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Colonel General Gregory Pedchenko, the website of UOC-Moscow Patriarchate reported.
During the meeting they discussed important issues of cooperation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Chief of the Armed Forces, noting the contribution of the church in strengthening the spirituality of the Ukrainian Army, thanked the leadership of the UOC for taking care of the troops and wished a quick recovery to the Primate, Metropolitan Volodymyr.
After the meeting, Colonel General Gregory Pedchenko, together with Archbishop Augustine, bowed unto the honorable relics of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica, the patron saint of soldiers. The relics are staying now at the Holy Dormition of the Kyiv Caves.
