On November 16, in the Higher Spiritual Seminary in Lviv, the 40th Conference of the Roman Catholic Bishops of Ukraine was held. The recent celebration of the 600th Anniversary of the Lviv Archdiocese and Metropolitanate and holding of the First All-Ukrainian Eucharist Congress were discussed.
According to the Catholic Media Center, during the conference, a new edition of the prayer service book, Massal, was presented. It is planned to print a few dozens of copies of the book and distribute it to the parishes by Christmas.
The participants also discussed cadres issues. Archbishop Petro Malchuk was appointed Head of the Committee on Church-StatehRelations and representative in the Council of Churches; Stanislav Shyrokoradiuk will head the Liturgical Committee. Bishop Vitaliy Skomarovskyi remains the Head of the Committee on Mass Media.
In addition the bishops passed a draft resolution to support AWTN Catholic TV. The document reads in particular: "As we know, a year ago, in Ukraine, the Eternal Word Catholic Television has been established which is aimed to show the power and beauty of the faith to all the faithful (compare Porta Fidei, 3). Complying with the instructions of the Second Vatican Council, EWTN is to spread the faith in God and Jesus Christ and care about the moral improvement of people (compare Encyclopedia on TV Miranda Prorsus, 46-47)."
