Ecumenical Patriarch names first Church to recognize OCU
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has said that the Local Orthodox Churches will recognize the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, and the first Church to do it will be the Greek Church.
Patriarch Bartholomew said it in an interview with TSN.Tyzhden (Week).
"Over the past few months we have been observing the situation in Ukraine. And, perhaps, the decision to recognize the Orthodox Church of Ukraine would be an accomplished fact if, of course, our sisters, the local Orthodox Churches, did not experience any political pressure from different countries. We hope that this will be behind us in the near future. We pray and hope that all Local Orthodox Churches will sooner or later recognize the independence of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, but the first Church that recognizes the Local Orthodox Church of Ukraine will be a sister Church – the Orthodox Church of Greece," said Bartholomew.
