Epifaniy met with US Ambassador

Ambassador of the United States to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch met with the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Epifaniy on December 20 at St Michael’s Monastery of Vydubichi. This is reported by the Kyiv diocesan authorities.

The Metropolitan thanked the United States for their efforts to protect freedom of religion around the world and, therefore, to support the right of Orthodox Christians in Ukraine to an independent Church, according to their own choice. Metropolitan Epifaniy also thanked for the previously received greetings and told her about the first steps as Primate.

The parties exchanged views on a number of issues related to the practical aspects of the establishment of the one Local Church.
