Events unfolding in Ukraine are a moral revolution in the whole world, ― the Head of the UGCC - фото 1
"What is happening in Ukraine today already has global consequences. It is not only certain military, economic, geopolitical or other consequences that are in question ― we are referring to very deep moral foundations of human life as such. Ukrainians have shown the whole world that there is something and there is someone for whom it is worth giving even your life. That is, some objective truths ― or values ― can be the meaning of life. And if it is taken away from you, life loses its meaning."

The head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, said it on the Kultura Radio program, 'Interview Time' with Vadym Karpyak. His statements were shared by the UGCC Information Department.

The head of the UGCC believes that what is happening in the world now is a manifestation of the time of post-truth, blurring the concepts of good and evil. This is the environment and substrate for Russian propaganda. Today, Ukraine is breaking this distorted mirror ― by resisting the evil, by its posture and struggle. And this, to a certain extent, is a turning point for the whole world ― a revolution of values, a moral challenge:

"True, there is good, and there is evil. Perhaps this is so obvious to us in Ukraine today that we do not fully feel the context in which the rest of the world still lives. The world today lives in the context of post-truth. That is why Russian propaganda so easily captivates people's minds and hearts ― "what difference does it make?“. If there is no objective truth, it means that there is no objective good and objective evil. And our behavior, our categorical "no" to Russian aggression is, to a certain extent, a Copernican revolution for the modern world when we declare to the whole world by our desperate posture of disagreement with evil and untruth ― there is good in the world!"

"Today we are our moral strength and posture "no to evil!" de facto, we provoke the world to have the courage to say this. Because post-truth mixes the concepts of good and evil, and modern man is disoriented, he does not know where to go. The head of the UGCC said, "Therefore, I believe that what is happening in Ukraine today is a certain moral revolution — first of all, for the Ukrainians themselves. Today we are beginning to understand who should not have been elected to power. We are beginning to understand how our society should have been built differently and how it was necessary to resist certain schemes of colonial or post-colonial society. This war that Russia is waging against Ukraine is a typical colonial war. That is, we begin to see clearly. And I would very much like us not to lose this painful war experience as a new opportunity to learn, perhaps even from our own mistakes. And so today, we must already think about what Ukraine will be like when we win. I have no doubt that there will be a victory. But today, we must consider the society we want to have when we expel the occupier. That society should be built by us. And God grant that there is as little evil in it as possible."
