First OCU Synod session to be held after Epifaniy’s enthronement
The enthronement of the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), Metropolitan Epifany will take place on February 3 in St Sofia Cathedral of Kyiv. On January 19, Epifaniy told journalists about this, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
“We are preparing the enthronement; the enthronement will take place on February 3. Thereafter, the first meeting of the Holy Synod will be held, where the relevant offices or synodal administrations will be finally approved, assigned and appointed, which will continue to operate for the development of our one local Orthodox Church,” said Epifaniy.
The date of enthronement – February 3 – was announced previously by the Head of the OCU; this is also his birthday anniversary.
We will add that, according to the Orthodox canons, the head of the Church must be at least 40 years old. Since Metropolitan Epifaniy turns 40 on February 3, hence the enthronement is scheduled for this very day.
