On March 14, 2010, in the city Krementchuk, Poltava region, took place the first Road to the Cross. The event was initiated by the community of the Resurrection of Christ of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic University (UGCC), with participation of the community of the parish of St. Joseph of the Roman Catholic Church, reports the Information Department of the UGCC.
“We prayed for the sins of abortion, which annually by unofficial statistics range from 4 to 8 million in Ukraine! In addition, we prayed for the authority of all levels – those who have control over the peace and welfare in our state, for judges and those who works in the justice system, because the level of moral of our society depends on them,” said Fr. Roman Ataman, pastor of the parish of Resurrection.
It should be noted that many passersby watched the procession. “I have hope that our prayer brought spiritual benefit not only to those who took part in it – there were about 50 persons, but also to all inhabitants of our city, because we prayed for all of them.”
“For the city in which live 300 thousand people, it is a small percent; however, it the bold beginning, and we hope that every year more and more people will participate in such spiritual events,” said Fr. Roman.
