Lviv honors memory of Holocaust victims
On January 27, the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, topical events will be held in Lviv, In particular, meetings, round table and theatrical performance.
This has been reported by the press service of the Lviv City Council.
Thus, a rally is scheduled from 12.00 to 12.25 at the monument to the victims of Lviv ghetto at Chornovil Avenue. Later, from 13.00 to 13.45, the rally will continue at the memorial stone on the site of the former Yaniv concentration camp (Vynnytsia).
From 14.00 to 15.30 a round table on topical issues of Jewish community life in Lviv Ukraine with the participation of historians, public figures, representatives of local authorities and Jewish organizations of the city. The theme of the round table “Unlearnt lessons of Shoah, xenophobic populist revolt against the world of human rights. What can we do in response to the challenges of our time?” Organizers require to confirm participation in the round table.
At 16.00, on the premises of All-Ukrainian Jewish Charitable Foundation “Hased-Arieh” (30 Kotlyarevskoho str.) the Theater "Debut" will perform “Eve of Darkness” (the works of Bertolt Brecht).
The events are organized by Ukrainian Jewish Charitable Foundation “Hased-Arieh” and Lobo Bnei Brit “Leopolis” named after Domberger.
"Marking this sad date is our tiny tribute to 6 million innocent victims of the Holocaust in flames. On this day, mourning rallies are held around the world near the memorial, as well as meeting with rescuers and rescued, organize exhibitions, film screenings, performances, poetry readings. The purpose of these events is to show the history unvarnished,” the organizers say.
