Metropolitan Borys Gudziak of UGCC becomes member of Congregation for Oriental Churches

On August 6, 2019, the Apostolic See announced that the Holy Father Pope Francis appointed new members of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, including the Archbishop and Metropolitan of Philadelphia, His Eminence Borys Gudziak. It is reported by the information Department of the Ukrainian Greek Cathoolic Church.

A message posted on the official website of the Vatican, in particular, says as follows:

"His Holiness Francis named members of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches: His Eminence Gualtiero Bassetti, Archbishop of Perugia and Сittà della Pieve, His Eminence Carlos Osoro Sierra, Archbishop of Madrid, His Eminence Cardinal Anders Arborelius, Bishop of Stockholm, His Eminence Cardinal Luis Francisco Ladaria Ferrer, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; monsignors Archbishop Anthony Colin Fisher of Sydney, Archbishop Georges Bacouni of Beirut and Jbeil of the Greek Melkites; Archbishop Borys Gudziak of Philadelphia of the Ukrainians; Archbishop Michel Petit of Paris, and Bishop Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, president of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue.
