LVIV — In an interview of the head of the Conference of Roman Catholic Bishops to Zaxid.net, Metropolitan Mechyslav Mokshytskyi stated that the “Church cannot point to any candidate but can only call believers to take an active part in the elections and explain that it is their moral responsibility.” RISU’s Ukrainian-language web site posted this story on January 11, 2009.
He also noted that in Ukraine no candidates presented their attitude to Christian values or their positions on abortion or sexual minorities in their platforms.
“It is difficult to imagine for our Church what Christian values are professed by the presidential candidates,” added the metropolitan.
