Metropolitan of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarcahte Meets with Chair of the Muslim Spiritual Directorate of Ukraine

At his residence at the Holy Dormition of the Kyiv Cave Monastery, Metropolitan Voloydmyr of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church - Moscow Patriarcahte received the Mufti of Ukraine sheik Akhmed Tamin.

Taking part in the meeting was rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary Archbishop Anthony of Boryspil, deputy chair of the Department for External Church Relations of the UOC-MP Archbishop Alexander of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy, chair of the Synodal Information Department archpriest George Kovalenko, and head of the External Affairs Department of the Muslin Spiritual Directorate Al-Khalavani Husam Eddin. Sheik Akhmed Tamim told Metropolitan Volodymyr about the life of muslims in Ukraine.

He also expressed an opinion that the extremism and terrorism emerge when  traditional religious education and upbringing have not preserved, and underscored that the Muslim Spiritual Directorate of Ukraine is consistent in opposing attempts to politicize religious life. During the meeting, the participants decided to set up a working group of the UOC-MP and the Muslim Spiritual Directorate of Ukraine to exchange information and coordinate work.
