Three residents of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra of the UOC-MP were hospitalized at the end of March in Oleksandivska hospital in Kyiv with symptoms of pneumonia and suspected coronavirus infection. As reported by Credo.Press, the first tests that the monks passed for coronavirus, were negative.

On the territory of the monastery, an outbreak of viral infection was also recorded – about 10 residents are now in the monastery infirmary, and several more maintain self-isolation. According to preliminary data, the Deputy Abbot of the Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel (Lebed), who continues to perform services, also shows signs of respiratory infection.

Tests for coronavirus were taken in all the sick residents on April 2, the test result will appear within three days.

Since mid-March, a quarantine regime has been implemented in Kyiv: the metro is suspended, and places of mass congestion are closed. Limited access to the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra remains in place, but there are significantly fewer parishioners attending Services than usual.
