President's Rep in Verkhovna Rada: By end of year, thousands of parishes will join OCU
Some 204 church parishes have already transferred to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. This was reported by the Representative of the President in the Verkhovna Rada, MP Iryna Lutsenko. According to her, it is expected that by the end of 2019 thousands of communities will move to the OCU, RBC-Ukraine reports.
“The enthronement of Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine has actually become the completion of the process of establishing an independent Orthodox Church in Ukraine. Nearly 204 parishes have moved to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church within a month and a half. Statistics show that by the end of the year thousands of communities, thousands of parishioners will transfer,” said the Representative of the President in the Verkhovna Rada.
In addition, on January 31, 2019, the law on the procedure for changing affiliation of religious communities, including the transfer to the OCU, came into force.
