On November 25, in Lviv, the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, his Beatitude Sviatoslav, met with the Chairman of the Lviv regional state administration, Markian Malsky. The meeting focuses on the holding of the Patriarchal Council in Lviv in August 2020: "Emigration, settlement and global unity of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church". This is reported by the UGCC Information Department.

"We ask ourselves where there are Ukrainians traveling outside the state, how to accompany them, how to provide them with proper pastoral support. We have chosen a theme that, on the one hand, puts the spotlight on this phenomenon, and on the other hand – we understand that our old settlements will change a lot. Therefore, there is a question of what life in the settlements will look like in a few years and how we will design new structures there, how to maintain relations with these people. After all, for more than a century of history, our Church was the link that connected the Ukrainian world into a single whole and we want to modernize this experience, " Patriarch Sviatoslav said.

An important place in the framework of the Cathedral will be dedicated to the world Congress of Ukrainians, because, as his Beatitude Sviatoslav added, one of the objectives of the event will be to meet representatives of the Diaspora.

In turn, the head of the region assured the guests of the support of the West. In particular, the parties discussed issues of promotion, logistics, participation of representatives of diplomatic agencies in the event, presentation within the framework of the regional development event and others.

The meeting with the head of Lviv regional state administration was attended by Metropolitan Volodymyr Gruza, auxilizry Bishop of Lviv Archeparchy, and Fr Roman Shafran, Secretary of the VII session of the Patriarchal Council, and Fr. Oleg Oleksa, personal Secretary of the Head of the UGCC.

It should be noted that the VII session of the Patriarchal Council will be held on August 26-29, 2020. The slogan of the Council is "Church is always and everywhere with you." The Council will be held within the walls of the Lviv theological Seminary of the Holy Spirit. Overall, about three hundred delegates from around the world are expected. Before the Council, each diocese will hold its own Diocesan Council.

It should be noted that the Patriarchal Council is held every five years. The UGCC Synod hopes that the VII session of the Patriarchal Council will become a tool that will help formulate the Church's strategy for the next decade.
