UOC-MP new Primate to be elected on August 13

The Holy Synod of the UOC-MP, which was held in Kyiv on July 7, immediately after the funeral of Metropolitan Volodymyr, set the date of election of the new Primate, reports the UOC-MP official site.

The Synod members, among the other, decided to convene the Council of Bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Kyiv on August 13, 2014.

The Holy Synod of the UOC-MP also thanked the Primates of the Local Churches of Constantinople, Jerusalem, Georgian, Serbia, Poland and America for their representatives’ arrival to Kyiv.

The UOC-MP hierarchy thanked Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia “for sympathy and prayers over the death of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine” and for “assigning the representative to attend the funeral of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church”.
