On 24 March, in Paris, a large rally against a law granting same-sex couples the married status was held with the participation of over 1.4 million people.
The protesters demanded to cancel the law which was passed by the Parliament but was rejected by the Senate, and insisted on a meeting with the French president who is making efforts to push the bill through the Senate.
The majority of the world media simply ignored the event. Some French TV channels mentioned it in the news but reduced the number of the protesters considerably.
The participants included not only Christians but also Muslims and atheists, reported the Catholic Observer.
