From 17 to 20 February 2002, the Kharkiv branch of International Solomon University held a “winter school” on Judaism for school children and college students. The syllabus included a number of educational mini-courses, during which instructors of Judaism from CIS countries acquainted the audience with the history, religion and traditions of the Jewish people. Students who completed the courses with honors have the opportunity to enroll at International Solomon University without taking entrance exams.
The school is funded by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and the Jewish Agency for Israel Sokhnut. In addition, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee has allocated 155 thousand hryvnias (about 30 thousand US dollars) for the erection of a memorial in Kharkiv to the victims of the Holocaust.
