$10,000 Gospel Stolen from Church in Ivano-Frankivsk Region

Unknown persons stole a unique gospel dated 1680 and old prints dated 1905 from the Church of Christ’s Resurrection in the village of Patsykiv in the western Ukrainian Ivano-Frankivsk Region.

The head of the church community, Vasyl Shevchuk, informed Gazeta.ua that it was most probably done at night and by someone who repeatedly visited the church and knew where the books were kept.

The 300-year-old gospel is estimated at approximately $10,000.

Police are investigating the matter.
