As a result of Russian aggression, 1,685 cultural heritage sites and 2,483 cultural infrastructure facilities in Ukraine have been destroyed or damaged.
This was reported by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
It has been noted that among the damaged cultural heritage sites, 155 hold national significance, while 1,370 have local significance, and 160 have just been discovered. Unfortunately, 45 cultural heritage sites have been completely destroyed.
In total, damage has been recorded in 18 regions. The most heavily affected monuments are in the Kharkiv region, with 349 damaged, followed by Kherson with 298, Donetsk with 195, Odesa with 184, and both the Kyiv region and the city of Kyiv, which have 172 affected sites.
Additionally, 2,483 cultural infrastructure facilities have been damaged as a result of shelling and hostilities, of which 507 have been completely destroyed. The greatest losses to cultural infrastructure have occurred in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Sumy, Kyiv, and Mykolaiv regions.
Destruction has been reported in 335 communities across Ukraine. The most damage has occurred in the following communities: Donetsk (46 communities), Sumy (38 communities), Kharkiv (34 communities), Chernihiv (34 communities), Zaporizhzhia (31 communities), Mykolaiv (23 communities), Dnipropetrovsk (22 communities), Kyiv (21 communities), and Luhansk (12 communities).
It is important to note that almost the entire territory of Luhansk, as well as significant parts of Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Kherson regions, are under temporary occupation. This situation makes it impossible to accurately calculate the number of monuments and cultural institutions that have suffered as a result of hostilities and occupation.
