On September 15, 2015 the list of participants of the extraordinary assembly of the synod of bishops “The vocation and mission of the family in the church and the contemporary world”, which will be held in the Vatican from October 4 to 25.
The Synod Chairman is Roman Pontiff Francis, and general secretary is Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri. Cardinals André Vingt-Trois, Archbishop of Paris, Luis Antonio Taґle, Archbishop of Manila (Philippines), Raymond Damasheno Assisi, Archbishop of Aparecida (Brazil), and Wilfrid Fox Napier, Archbishop of Durban (South Africa) will be delegated presidents of the Assembly.
The main speaker will be Archbishop of Budapest, Cardinal Peter Erdo (Hungary) and special secretary Archbishop Bruno Forte of Chieti-Vasto (Italy).
Eastern Churches will be represented by 22 hierarchs. The participants on behalf of the UGCC Synod of Bishops will be Patriarch Sviatoslav (Shevchuk) and the delegates: Bishop Borys (Gudziak), Bishop of Paris diocese of St. Volodymyr and Bishop Hlib (Lonchyna), eparchial Bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Holy Family of London. There will be one more Ukrainian at the Synod of Bishops – Fr Ambrosiy Samus, officer of the General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops.
Next in the list are the delegates appointed by the episcopal conferences all over the world.
The Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine will be represented by Archbishop Mieczyslaw Mokrzycki, Metropolitan of Lviv, Chairman of the Conference of Roman Catholic Bishops of Ukraine.
The heads of departments of the Roman Curia, experts and auditors, including 17 couples will also take part in the Synod of Bishops. The so-called fraternal delegates representing non-Catholic Churches were also invited to take part in the debate. It was reported by Vatican Radio.
