A workshop on the establishment and activities of parish centers for youth was held in central Ukrainian Vinnytsia
A workshop on the establishment and activities of parish centers for youth was held in central Ukrainian Vinnytsia from 15 to 17 December 2002. It was conducted for Ukrainian priests, nuns and laymen by specialists from the Academy for Training Leaders and Instructors of Youth and Children’s Parish Centers in Poland. Among the main topics for instruction were the history of parish centers in Poland, the system of motivation, and theoretical educational models and their application in everyday life.
After this two-day seminar, the participants, who came to Vinnytsia from different cities of Ukraine, will be able to start such social and therapeutic centers at their parishes. The initiative for establishing such centers in Ukraine is not new, but Ukrainian leaders and instructors lacked professional experience. Bishop Leon Dubrawski, ordinary of the Kamianets-Podilskyi diocese of the Roman Catholic Church, initiated the establishment of the Coordinative Bureau for Parish Youth and Children Centers that would help the already existing centers to organize their work better.
