The Diocese of Luhansk of the UOC-MP has changed the cause of death of the Metropolitan and issued a special statement on this issue.
This is reported by Glavkom.
"Due to the fact that the media has published information hinting at the alleged violent death of Metropolitan Mytrofan of Luhansk and Alchevsk, we inform you of the following:
...At the autopsy, the true cause of death was determined – a stroke, against the background of chronic heart disease. A few days before his death, Metropolitan Mytrofan complained of feeling unwell and sudden pressure drops, which probably led to a stroke and a fall, as a result of which he hit his head on the concrete stairs of the house," the UOC-MP said.
A few days ago, the Diocese of Luhansk posted on its official website a message stating that the cause of death was a heart attack.
At the same time, there were no details about the circumstances of the incident. Meanwhile, rumors began to spread on the internet that the death allegedly occurred after the influential metropolitan communicated with local "security forces", one of whom hit the influential hierarch, but underrated the forces and accidentally killed him.
"Glavkom "published the conclusions of the forensic medical examination, which was issued to the deceased in the so-called "LPR".
They say that the Metropolitan died as a result of a head injury.
After the document and the interview with Metropolitan Klyment (Vecherya) were published, the cause of death on the diocese's website was changed.
It should be noted that Metropolitan Mytrofan was one of those metropolitans of the Church in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate, who served in the occupied territory, he was accused of collaborating with militants, and the Ukrainian special services were interested in his activities.
In addition, before presenting the Tomos to the OCU, Metropolitan Mytrofan was a member of the Commission of the Moscow Patriarchate to conduct negotiations "with those who have separated from church communion."
