According to Poturaiev, the strategic goal for the Ukrainian state in the spiritual sector is to unite the pro-Ukrainian dioceses of the UOC-MP with the OCU.
Mykyta Poturaiev, a member of 'Servant of the People' and Chairman of the Humanitarian Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, stated this in an interview with NV.
According to him. "After such reunification, the Ukrainian authorities, together with church leaders, will appeal to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for a second Tomos, which will grant the United Ukrainian Church the status of a Patriarchate," he added.
"Our goal as government officials is to promote the establishment of a single Orthodox Church in Ukraine. It already exists — this is the OCU," said Zelensky's associate. "When the only Orthodox Church headed by the patriarch appears in Ukraine, it will receive another Tomos, as has already happened in history. This is about the strategic goals of the Ukrainian state and Ukrainian orthodoxy," Poturaiev explained.
As for the future actions of the UOC-MP, this community, as the politician believes, has no strategic goals.
"They [the UOC-MP] have certain hopes that they will be able to prove the legality of the contracts [for the lease of the Lavra, which the Ministry of Culture recognized as concluded with violations]. Their tactics are clear, but they don't have a strategy. Therefore, I believe that they will lose," said the representative of the 'Servant of the People'.
