Ancient wooden church burnt down in Lviv region

In Velikopole village of Yavoriv district, Lviv region, Sunday, June 14, the wooden church of the Synaxis of the Holy Virgin (dating back to 1781) was burnt down in the evening.

The fire occurred at 17:35, according to the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. At 19:21 the fire rescuers eliminated fire. There were no victims.

The preliminary cause of fire is believed to be short circuit, as indicated inthe rescuers’ statement. However, contributors of Guard 1 public page on Facebook indicate arsonas a possible cause of the fire, as reported by Zaxid.Net.
