The Apostolic Nuncio presented a gift to the Holy Father – a glass candle holder in the form of a rose, which the Catholics from Donbas wanted to offer to the Pope as a sign of loyalty and gratitude on the occasion of the last visit of Nuncio in the region.
On October 7, Pope Francis received Claudio Gugerotti, the Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine in a private audience.
According to the Apostolic Nunciature in Ukraine, during the meeting, the Holy Father was willing to get a detailed account of the political, ecclesial and ecumenical situation in Ukraine, and especially about the people affected by the war in the Donbas. He also wanted to hear about the state of his humanitarian Initiative “Pope for Ukraine”.
The Pope also gave Nuncio his detailed instructions for his activities and priorities to follow.
