10 January, 15:18

The Security Service has collected evidence against a former novice of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, who is involved in information and subversive activities in favor of Russia. The suspect justified the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and the temporary occupation of part of Ukraine's territory, including Donetsk and Luhansk.

He also publicly spread fakes about Ukrainian defenders on the eastern front and called Russia's full-scale aggression a "conflict escalation" between Russia and Ukraine.

The initiated SBU examination confirmed the facts of his subversive activities against the state security of Ukraine.

During the searches at the place of the suspect's residence, a mobile phone with evidence of his criminal actions was found.

At present, the Security Service investigators have informed him of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime, including verifying the facts of the possible cooperation of the representative of the UOC MP with Russian special services.

The perpetrator faces up to 8 years in prison with property confiscation.

Comprehensive measures were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
