Believers from Galicia Contribute to Construction of UGCC Church in Sevastopol

On 19 August, on the feast of Transfiguration, nearly a hundred residents and guests of the Crimean city of Sevastopol gathered near a small chapel, in the place of which a church is to be built.

A celebratory service was celebrated with the participation of a choir from the town of Chervonohrad of Lviv Oblast.

Visitors of the My Singing Ukraine festival, which is held annually before Independence Day, come to the Greek Catholic church each year. The head of the Prosvita Society, Mykola Berezovskyi, noted that “this time our public organizations made a joint contribution for the construction of the church. The funds were gathered by communities, public organizations, Greek Catholics and Orthodox Churches, particularly the Kyivan Patriarchate.

The event was also attended by the famous football player and now the coach of the Simferopol Tvria, Oleh Luzhnyi.

The senior priest of the Greek Catholic church in Sevastopol, Fr. Mykola Kvych, noted that he is very pleased with the large number of believers who gathered last Sunday.
