Plast members from Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Stryi climbed the highest mountain of Ukraine, Hoverla to bring there the Jerusalem fire of peace on 22 December.

On December 22, members of the scouting organization Plast from Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Stryi climbed the highest mountain of Ukraine, Hoverla, to bring there the Peace Light of Bethlehem, IA ZIK reported.

The members of the Vatana Burlak Kurin of Plast have made this hike since 2006 despite bad weather conditions. This year, the weather conditions were favorable.

“The purpose of our action is symbolic, for the Light is brought to Ukraine primarily for those who need a piece of warmth on the eve of Christmas, such as orphanages, old people homes, churches, etc. As we bring the Bethlehem fire up the highest peak of Ukraine we seek to let it encompass the whole Ukraine,” said the head of the Plast group, Mykyta Vasylchenko.
