The Ukrainian Center of the International PEN Club decided to overtake the cause of the Vasyl Stus Prize, founded in 1989 by the Ukrainian Association of Independent Creative Intelligentsia (UANTI) led by Yevhen Sverstiuk (1928-2014), which was awarded each year on January 14 on St. Basil's Say. The winners of the Prize were, in particular, Olga Bohomolets, Maria Burmaka, Opanas Zalivaha, Mikhailina Kotsiubynska, Vasyl Ovsienko, Ivan Svetlychny, Nadia Svetlichna, Galina Sevruk, Lyudmila Semikina.
This year, Bishop Borys (Gudziak) was elected the laureate. The ceremony will be held on August 26 at 17.00 in the Taras Shevchenko National Museum (Kyiv, T. Shevchenko Blvd., 12). The laureate of the Vasyl Stus Prize receives a laureate diploma and an award from the Ukrainian Center of International PEN Club.
