Bishop Ian Sobilo: war in Ukraine brought RCC and UGCC together

Bishop Ian said that one can also build unity between the peoples in Ukraine and all its neighborsthrough internal unity between Catholic bishops of Ukraine, which in these days came to the meeting with Pope Francis. The hierarch told about the current close cooperation between the Roman Catholic and Greek Catholic priestson the territory affected by the war in eastern Ukraine. “This war is a disaster and it brings us together, and we feel that we are one Church,” said Bishop Ian Sobilo.

Note that the question of relations between the clergy of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine and the UGCC was raised by Francis Pope, who gave instructions to the bishops during their ad Limina Apostolorum visit to the Vatican.
