23 March, 11:40

Metropolitan Antony (Shcherba) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA and the Diaspora and Archbishop Daniel (Zelinsky) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the USA and the Western European Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Diaspora assured Metropolitan Epifaniy of their prayers for the late Patriarch Filaret.

The letter of condolence was published on the official website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the USA.

"With hearts sustained by the unshakable hope of the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we extend our condolences to Your Beatitude, the hierarchs, clergy, monastics, and faithful of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine upon the repose of the former metropolitan of Kyiv, Filaret, patriarch-emeritus.

His life was marked by many years of dedicated service to the Church, during which he bore witness to the complexities and challenges of ecclesiastical life with perseverance and zeal. In moments of both trial and triumph, he remained a figure whose life intersected profoundly with the history of Orthodoxy in Ukraine.

In this time of mourning, we unite ourselves in prayer with Your Beatitude and the faithful of Ukraine, entrusting the soul of the departed servant of God to the boundless mercy and love of our Lord," reads the letter of condolence.
