From April 12 to 14, a meeting was held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, for the bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in North America. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen fraternal unity and mutual support among the bishops. They discussed the current challenges facing the UGCC within the North American diaspora, reviewed past activities, and developed joint strategies for the future.
This was reported by the UGCC Department for Information.
Over the course of two days, bishops from Canada and the United States convened meetings for their respective metropolitan sees, culminating in a joint plenary session.
During these meetings, the bishops received reports on the activities of several key commissions, including the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission, the Patriarchal Youth Commission, and the Patriarchal Commission for Clergy Affairs. They paid special attention to the challenges faced by new Ukrainian immigrants in both the U.S. and Canada, as well as the opportunities for parish communities to support them.
The bishops also discussed the progress of the English translation of the Divine Liturgy, which is anticipated to be available for the faithful by the end of this year.
Additionally, participants reaffirmed their support for two significant annual events: the SingCon Deacons’ Conference, scheduled for September 10–14, 2026, at St. Elias UGCC Parish in Brampton, Ontario, and the Pan-American Youth Pilgrimage, set for June 11–14, 2026, in Parma, Ohio. Laypeople from all eparchies are encouraged to participate in these events.
