A group of 50 Hasidim who arrived at Boryspil airport from Tel-Aviv on August 25 were not allowed to enter Ukraine in for several hours.
The conflict arose during passport control: the purpose of their trip was to celebrate the Jewish New Year Rosh Hashanah in Uman, 'Facts' has reported.
At the request of the lawyer of the Rabi Nachman Foundation, Iryna Rybnitska, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the state customs service confirmed that there is no ban on the entry of Israeli citizens to Ukraine.
On the morning of August 26, it became known that a group of Hasidim was still allowed to enter Ukraine.
The decision to significantly restrict the Hasidic pilgrimage to Uman to celebrate Rosh Hashanah 2020 was made at a meeting with the President on August 25.
It is noted that this was the direct request of the government of Israel.
On August 25, President Volodymyr Zelensky met with representatives of Jewish religious organizations in Ukraine and discussed compliance with anti-epidemic restrictions during Rosh Hashanah celebrations in Uman.
