The former head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church refused to receive another award during his visit to Rivne Oblast.
The Rector’s Office of the National University Ostrih Academy, where the cardinal met with students, decided to grant the hierarch the title of honorary doctor of the university and present to him the highest award of the university, the Prince Vasyl-Kostiantyn of Ostrih Medal. However, the cardinal refused to receive them.
Lubomyr Husar explained that after leaving the post of Supreme Arcbishop, he decided not to accept any titles or awards, whether state ones or other ones. The hierarch earlier refused to accept the title of honorary doctor in two other higher education institutions in Ukraine.
However, Cardinal Lubomyr accepts books as presents. He gladly received an Encyclopedia "Ostrih Academy" from the university.
