Cardinal Krajewski to bring an ambulance and medicines for Zboriv hospital

24 June, 14:17

Pope Francis is sending a third ambulance to a Ukrainian hospital. Like the two previous ones, it will be personally delivered by Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, the Pontifical Distributor of Alms, who is visiting Ukraine for the eighth time since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

This was reported by Vatican News.

The ambulance, equipped as a resuscitation vehicle, is intended for the Zboriv District Central Hospital in Ternopil Oblast. Together with the vehicle, "Elemosineria Apostolica" (Apostolic Alms Office) will bring a large number of medicines donated by the Vatican pharmacy and the Agostino Gemelli University Hospital pharmacy.

During this trip to Ukraine, on behalf of the Pope, the Prefect of the Dicastery of the Ministry of Mercy will inaugurate the St. John Paul II Rehabilitation Center in Vinnytsia, in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kamianets-Podilskyi. The center will provide comprehensive physical and psychological rehabilitation for people who have suffered war trauma. The construction of the center, as well as a number of other similar initiatives implemented at the request of Pope Francis, was funded by contributions from several papal foundations, such as Aid to the Church in Need and the Papal Foundation.

"These centers, as Pope Francis teaches, are open to 'ALL', without any distinction of religion or nationality, excluding no one. Care will be offered to those who have received combat wounds and to their loved ones, wives and children, to support Ukrainian families in these tragic times," reads the press release of the Apostolic Alms Office, which notes that the "St. John Paul II Center," which will be opened with the participation of Cardinal Krajewski, and the donation of an ambulance and medicines are "gestures of mercy with which Pope Francis reminds us that faith is not disembodied, but takes responsibility for difficult situations and for the poorest and most vulnerable, following the example of the Good Samaritan who took care of the wounded man attacked by robbers."
