The Obnova Ukrainian Association of Catholic Students is organizing a continuous prayer for Ukraine, for its European choice, Sofia Kernychna, External Affairs assistant of the Federation of Ukrainian Catholic Academic Student Assocations wrote on the federation’s Facebook page, informs DyvenSvit.

“Dear Obnova members! At this difficult time, Ukraine and the Ukrainian people need prayer! Let us start a common prayer by Obnova members on the federation level for the good fate of Ukraine, for the good fate of the Ukrainian people, for the good choice for the development of Ukraine, for the prevention of bloodshed.

“1. Common prayer every day at 11:00 p.m. “O Heavenly King,” “Our Father,” “Hail Mary,” “In Your Mercy.”

“2. Continuous ongoing prayer according to a “schedule,” step by step. And so please all who are ready to pray from a certain time to a certain time please volunteer,” reads the statement.

Sofia Kernychna includes a quote from Major Archbishop Emeritus of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Lubomyr Husar: “When we pray for personal use, or for the greater needs of the people, government, we must trust in God and ask Him to satisfy our needs as he knows best. This is the first feature of our prayers.”

The Catholic students also intend to issue an appeal to the Christian youth organizations in Europe to support Ukraine with prayer as well.

Sofia Kernychna informed RISU that Obnova members already received support from the chaplain of the Catholic lay organization Pax Romana Europa Fr. Antoine Zondah: “We stand in solidarity with those in Ukraine who are fighting for a democratic Ukraine, which means a more ‘European’ Ukraine!”
