Roman Catholic parish of St. Nicolas in Kyiv managed to reach agreements with the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

This is reported by the Catholic Media Center.

The church should be transferred to the use of the parish on June 1.

In addition, the organization and conduct of emergency response work in the church is carried out in accordance with the previously approved schedule.

The parties agreed that the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, within its competence, will facilitate the search for other rehearsal halls and premises for concerts of the National House of Organ and Chamber Music and the movement of the National House of Organ and Chamber Music in accordance with the procedure established by law to other relevant premises by June 1, 2022.

The parties agreed that the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine will facilitate the transfer of the church premises to the permanent use of the religious community in accordance with the procedure established by law after the completion of emergency response work, but in any case no later than June 1, 2022.
Until the transfer of the church, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine undertakes to take measures to prepare the necessary documentation to make a security contract with the religious community for the premises of the church, in particular, the statement on the technical condition of the monument, an inventory of cultural values and objects that belong to the monument, the passport of the monument, plans of the premises of the monument, a technical passport and a list of property that is transferred to the permanent use of the religious community until May 1, 2022, as well as the development and approval of a draft security contract.

The parties agreed that the religious community undertakes to comply with the requirements of the law of Ukraine "On the Protection of Cultural Heritage" as a user of a monument of the cultural heritage of national significance after the transfer of the church premises to the permanent use of the religious community in accordance with the procedure established by law.

That is, June 1 next year should be the defining date in the history of the long-suffering, legendary Church of St. Nicholas – the day when, in the end, thanks to the efforts of many believers, historical justice will be restored and the Christian shrine will return to the bosom of the Church.
