Citizen of Ukraine was denied a residence permit in the Russian Federation for his religious beliefs

A citizen of Ukraine living in the Krasnodar Territory was denied a residence permit in the Russian Federation because of his religious beliefs. He belongs to The New Generation Church.

The 34-year-old citizen of Ukraine came to Russia in 2019, at the same time he received a temporary residence permit. Now he has applied for a residence permit, but the regional Federal Security Service reported that the man belongs to the New Generation Church, the activities of four foreign organizations of which in Russia were recognized as undesirable. According to the FSB, he actively promotes the ideas of his church.

The Main Directorate of the Ministry of internal Affairs of the Krasnodar Territory refused to issue him a residence permit and revoked his temporary residence permit in the Russian Federation.

On December 2, about 200 participants of the Pastoral Conference of Protestant Pentecostal Churches "New Generation" were detained by the police in Ramenskoye near Moscow.

In August, the prosecutor general's Office of the Russian Federation recognized four religious organizations associated with Latvia and Ukraine as "undesirable". The report says that the reason for making such a decision was that "their activities pose a threat to the foundations of the constitutional order and security of the Russian Federation.
