28.09.2022, 10:15

The autumn plenary assembly of the EU episcopate Commission (COMECE) will be held in Brussels from October 12 to 14, 2022.

Delegates of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Union will discuss the socio-economic and geopolitical consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, with special emphasis on the energy crisis, reports the CMC.

In the current context of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, the bishops will analyze the various consequences of the war, preparing proposals from the commission for European Union policy in support of peace and justice in Europe and the world. The assembly will provide delegates with an opportunity to exchange views on the ongoing energy crisis, in particular its geopolitical, socio-economic and environmental dimensions.

The hierarchs will also focus on the situation of numerous refugees who arrived in their countries fleeing the war and to the situation of economically vulnerable people who find it difficult to meet their primary needs due to the rise in the price of energy resources and raw materials.

The program also includes a Holy Mass for Europe, which will be celebrated at the Church of the Most Holy Theotokos des-Victoires-au-Sablon in the historical center of Brussels. Bishops-delegates of the 27 member states of the European Union will take part as concelebrants.
