Council of Evangelical Churches urges Zelensky not to submit the Istanbul Convention to the Verkhovna Rada for ratification

The Council of Evangelical Protestant Churches of Ukraine calls on the president not to submit to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on the ratification of the Istanbul Convention.

This is stated on the Facebook page of the Council of Evangelical Protestant Churches of Ukraine.

"Our concern is caused by ideological bias and certain provisions of the convention that raise doubts about the expediency of ratifying this particular international document," reads the letter to the president of Ukraine, which was agreed by the participants of the council meeting on July 8.

The Council of Evangelical Protestant Churches of Ukraine sees a risk that the declared intentions of countering domestic violence will be replaced by the introduction of new ideologemes that are not inherent and even alien to Ukrainian society and may negatively affect the upbringing of children and young people.
