In Crimea, in Saky, October 13, the central mosque was set on fire. The fire damaged the terrace, the imam’s room, and utility rooms. Fortunately, there were no people in the building at the time.
The press service of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Crimea (SBMC) informs that the Emergency Situations Ministry and Interior Ministry investigated the incident. The local religious community says that judging by certain evidence, the mosque was set on fire deliberately.
At the site of the fire, Mufti of the Muslims of Crimea Haji Emirali Ablaev called a meeting with the Deputy Mufti of Crimea Chief Imam of Saki region and other members of the local religious community.
Participants studied the situation and identified priority actions to be taken by the Muftiat of Crimea, the local religious community, and the mejlis. In particular, they have begun to clean the mosque. The SBMC for its part is preparing an appeal to the law enforcement authorities to conduct an impartial investigation and punish those who are responsible for the fire.
According to the Mufti of Crimea, the provocation on the eve of a major Muslim holiday, Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), will promote the unity of Muslims and raise the money to restore the mosque.
