Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus expressed his disagreement with the canonical actions of Patriarch of Moscow - the breakup of the Eucharistic communion with Archbishop Hieronymos of Athens.

Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus expressed his disagreement with the canonical actions of Patriarch of Moscow - the breakup of the Eucharistic communion with Archbishop Hieronymos of Athens.

It was reported by Cerkvarium, which cites Romfea.

The Archbishop of Cyprus believes that a breakup can be justified only by falling into heresy. But neither the Ecumenical Patriarch nor the Archbishop of Athens is a heretic, he notes.

The head of the Church of Cyprus explained that, in his opinion, it would be best to resolve the dispute between Moscow and Constantinople through a joint meeting of the two Patriarchs. But both sides do not go for it, so the Church of Cyprus, disagreeing with the position of both peers, maintains neutrality. As Cerkvarium summarizes, it is actually no secret that Cyprus is ready to acknowledge the OCU in the absence of Russian pressure. Immediately after the Tomos was issued, Chrysostom expressed the hope that one day the OCU leader would come to Cyprus and concelebrates with this Local Church.

As RISU already reported, since yesterday the ROC has severed the Eucharistic communion with Archbishop Hieronymos of Athens through recognition of the OCU.
