Deputies voted for the anti-human ideology of gender – UGCC head comments on "anti-discrimination" amendment to Labor Code

UGCC Patriarch Sviatoslav (Shevchuk) said that the MPs voting on Wednesday for the "anti-discrimination" amendment to the Labor Code, in fact, have opted for the "liberation" of the rules of morality and Church presence in the public discourse.

It was reported by the Information Department of the UGCC.

"So it is not the choice made for freedom, non-discrimination and Europe, and but the choice for a new antihuman and discriminative ideology of gender which was unanimously condemned by the Catholic bishops on the last papal synod," he said.

"It seems to me that the Labor Code, first of all, had to protect fatherhood and motherhood against discrimination. We see as in our context of wild capitalism a pregnancy sometimes can be the grounds for loss of work for a woman, and aggressive business hours and low wages do not leave for parents the time to spend on families of children,” the hierarch said.

UGCC Patriarch said that priests offered to legislators to abandon ideological cliches and use the expression “attitude to sexuality,” which corresponds to Christian anthropology.

“One can see the illusion that Europeanness means liberation from the rules of morality and Church presence in the public discourse. We define this phenomenon as secularization. I hope that this legislative choice of MPs will launch a broad public debate about the real discrimination, true freedom and responsibility. In turn, the religious environment of Ukraine should be ready for deep, comprehensive and open dialogue in order to explain the Christian doctrine of sexuality without offending anyone and honoring and serving everyone,” the head of the UGCC said.
