Diving Center to Be Built in Former Muslim Cemetery

The Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Crimea intends to dispute the issuance of a state act with regard to a land plot for a diving center in the village of Semenivka of Lenin District where a Muslim cemetery was located in the past.

The Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Crimea intends to dispute the issuance of a state act with regard to a land plot for a diving center in the village of Semenivka of Lenin District where a Muslim cemetery was located in the past, the press center of the Board to Crimea.comments reported.

“A state act was issued with regard to the plot of 15-20 hectares of the Muslim cemetery for  the construction of a diving center. The plot is located at the sea side. After the state act was issued, construction work began on the plot during which human remains were found. This fact prompted local Crimean Tatar activists to begin gathering information about the history of the plot. According to the results of information gathering, a Muslim cemetery was located in the plot. Testimonies of people and archive certificates can prove it. However, the state act has not been cancelled and construction continues,” noted the lawyer of the board, Ibraim Kaimakan.
