Dnipro mayor sues OCU hierarch
Mayor of Dnipro Borys Filatov requires apology from the ruling bishop of the Diocese of Dnipropetrovsk and Kryvyy Rih, Bishop Symeon (Zinkevich), as reported by the press service of Dnipro City Council, according to Depo.Dnipro.
Borys Filatov, the Mayor of Dnipro, lodged a suit with Babushinsky District Court, demanding to refute the information voiced by the head of the Diocese of Dnipropetrovsk of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Bishop Symeon Zinkevych. The case will be considered by Judge Kateryna Lukinova.
“Oleh Zinkevych (bishop’s secular name), who manages one of the dioceses of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, ignored the request of the Mayor of Dnipro, Borys Filatov to refute the false allegations against him. It is referred to the statements made by Mr. Zinkevych during the official press-conference two weeks ago. It was later revealed that the information provided by him was not supported by facts and was not true. In particular, Oleh Zinkevyh condemned the alleged speech of the mayor concerning the provision of the Tomos to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine,” goes the statement.
Filatov handed over a letter to Zinkevych, where he insisted that the latter publicly refute these allegations about him. The term for pre-trial settlement of the situation was ten days, but no response was received.
As reported, recently Bishop Symeon of the OCU, accused the Mayor of Dnipro of disrespect for the Tomos.
