23.10.2020, 10:24

The Council of Evangelical Protestant Churches of Ukraine calls that joint prayer and fasting for local elections to be held on October 22-24.

This is reported by the press service of the All-Ukrainian Union of Evangelical Christian Baptist Churches and the All-Ukrainian Council, which issued a call to prayers by Valery Antonyuk, chairman of the WCC EXB.

It says:

"On Friday, October 23, all Evangelical Churches of Ukraine unite in common prayer and fasting for local elections. We encourage our brothers and sisters to intensify personal prayers, as well as the prayers in small groups and the whole community. First of all, we pray that we will make a correct and responsible choice before God regarding candidates for local councils.

We will pray onto the Lord that he determines and establish the authority that will suit His intentions. Our prayer is for further decisions and actions of the authorities, who will ensure freedom of conscience and religion for our Ukrainian people; who will profess Christian values and proclaim important biblical principles.

Let us pray that our country receives the healing it needs, that it develops not only economically, but also is a country that proclaims important spiritual principles in society and lives by these principles.

May God's peace bless everyone. We will humble ourselves before Him, and He will give an answer.

"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. " (1 Tim. 2:1-4)".

Background reference. Since 2005, the Council of Evangelical Protestant Churches of Ukraine has been coordinating the inter-church dialogue of 12 evangelical religious associations and representing about 10 thousand church communities of Evangelical Christians in Ukraine.
