An exhibition entitled “The Ukrainian Shroud [of Jesus] from the Collections of the Lviv Art Gallery” opened in western Ukrainian Lviv on 14 December 2002.
According to Borys Voznytskyi, director of the Lviv Art Gallery, the copies of the shroud of Jesus were collected from different places in the western Ukrainian Halychyna area and manufactured at different times by unknown craftsmen. Among those present at the opening ceremony was Cardinal Lubomyr Husar, head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. “This exhibition is another testimony to the spirituality of the Ukrainian nation,” said Cardinal Husar. In late September 2002, a copy of the Shroud of Turin arrived in Lviv and since then three million believers have visited St. George’s Cathedral to venerate it. Source: www.ugcc.org.ua
