In Uman, on the eve of the celebration of Rosh Hashanah - the Jewish New Year, which will take place this evening, the first cases of coronavirus among Hasidim were registered.

This was announced by the head of the Uman Department of the State Food and Consumer Service in the Cherkasy region Larysa Kachanova, ZN.UA reports.

"The epidemic situation is unstable. The first cases among the pilgrims who arrived have already been registered," Kachanova said.

She also added that the epidemic situation "is controlled and monitored to comply with anti-epidemic requirements."

At the same time, Uman mayor Iryna Pletnyova noted that everything possible has been done to prepare for the arrival of pilgrims. However, she is not happy with everything.

"Not everyone is happy because the territory is not quite clean, but this is due to the fact that hotel owners do not want to take out garbage," the mayor added.

The New Year 5782 according to the Jewish calendar will be celebrated on the evening of September 6, 2021. The celebrations will last until the evening of September 8.

To make the holiday safe against the background of the coronavirus, the Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Igor Kuzin adopted a resolution on anti-epidemic measures during the international pilgrimage, since last year Hasidim in Uman violated quarantine.
