Former abbot of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Pavlo (Lebid), released from detention on $900,000 bail

The release of the metropolitan was announced by his lawyer, Mykyta Chekman, on Telegram. This information was disseminated by the UOC MP press service.

The lawyer stated that the bail amount was collected by parishioners of the UOC MP after the Church's account details were published on its website. According to him, the bail was contributed by around 1000 individuals.

Pavlo (Lebid) has already expressed his gratitude to them for their prayers and the funds raised.

Recall that on April 1, the Security Service of Ukraine announced suspicion against the former abbot of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan of UOC MP Pavlo Lebid.

He was charged under Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of equal rights of citizens based on their race, nationality, regional affiliation, and religious beliefs) and Part 1 of Article 436-2 (justification, denial of armed aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

Later, the Security Service exposed new evidence of Metropolitan Pavlo's unlawful activities.

The court remanded him in custody and set bail at over 33 million hryvnias.
