Georgian Church to elect new Patriarch on May 11

The Enlarged Council of the Georgian Orthodox Church will meet on May 11 at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Tbilisi to elect a new Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia.

According to Azertag, the Patriarchate announced this on social media.

The organizational and technical details of the meeting will be announced at a later date.

The Holy Synod has chosen three candidates for the patriarchal throne. The candidates for the position of the 142nd Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia are Metropolitan Shio (Mujiri) of Senaki and Chkhorotsku, Metropolitan Job (Akiashvili) of Ruisi and Urbnisi, and Metropolitan Gregory (Berbichashvili) of Poti and Khobi.
